Coach as ∆ Catalyst ~ Testimonials

Thank you again for the time and effort you have put into our sessions, and more importantly, the novel perspective that you’ve provided me. I know that I’ve come out a better and more self-aware leader, which was the primary goal of the coaching.
— Government of Canada, senior leader

I had the privilege of working with Sarah as my coach, I engaged in coaching without a clear expectation of what it is coaching and what value it will bring.

Working with Sarah, I understood and appreciated the idea of a “thinking partner”, Sarah’s insights and observations provided me with the opportunity to think broadly and observe without judgement. What did I get out of coaching? I can summarize two major take home outcomes.

Accomplishments: the first is opening my mind to opportunities beyond the traditional path of medicine which led to a significant progress and career growth,

and the second is appreciation and gratitude for what is existing. Coaching has really opened my mind to possibilities that are achievable, exciting and energizing.

I could not have had a better thinking partner than Sarah, it is a pleasure and privilege to have had this opportunity.
— Physician, Professor, Academic Leader

Before meeting Sarah, I’d never worked with an Executive coach, and didn’t know what to expect. I was considering some professional changes, and she met me where I was and accompanied me on a very thoughtful and constructive path of observation and reflection. She is incredibly smart, patient, and compassionate, and she knows just when to challenge you on beliefs and behaviours that may be getting in your way.

Sarah’s coaching has helped me rebalance the many facets of my life—professional, intellectual, family, personal— and empowered me to better align my career journey with my dearest values. I’m grateful for the experience and strongly recommend working with her.
— Technology Executive

Coaching with Sarah was a drastically different experience than I had anticipated. Prior “leadership coaching” experiences attempted to “teach me the skills required” to navigate situations and “become a leader” by modeling the attributes exemplified by other great leaders. Rather than following that model, Sarah instead guided me to understand my authentic self, thereby encouraging me to be the leader, and person, that I am uniquely meant to be. What an amazing gift!
— Physician, Senior Medical Advisor, College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta

I cannot recommend working with Sarah enough... Sarah was able to dig and unlock my inner potential in ways I did not think were possible. The accelerated growth I experienced over the last 12 sessions completely blew me away and I am re-energized to carry the tools, exercises, and experience with me for years to come. For the first time in my life I am enjoying a healthy work life balance, letting go of worry and focusing on a positive future that has brought so much peace to my professional life. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to receive coaching and look forward to working with Sarah in the near future.
— Executive Director, Alberta Not for Profit

Sarah, you have been steady, mindful and so astute about some of my challenges! Your in the moment observations/rephrasing/offering new insights is so valuable. Your approach has supported my capacity to recognize how my values inform my work and will support a more intentional, meaningful direction moving forward.
— Physician & Associate Professor, University of Calgary, Department of Psychiatry

Working with Sarah allowed me to become more aware of my strengths and weaknesses. The consultation led to a higher level of introspection which was the catalyst to switch into a different job. Highly recommend working with her.
— Lalitha Tylor, Taylor Nutrition

Sarah Thomas has been tremendously valuable as a thinking partner for my career pivot. Her deep knowledge of and experience in healthcare – academia, policies, heirarchy, and regulatory bodies are combined with a mindful relational approach. Her use and broad knowledge of the EQ In Action supported her understanding of me. Sarah’s finely honed critical thinking capacity is evident in the questions she asks to support recognition of what is uniquely important to me. Sarah’s practices include: valuable meeting summaries, developing action steps with anticipated commitment and encouraging reflection prior to sessions.
— Physician, senior academic

Sarah exemplifies everything you’d hope for in a master coach but rarely find: an incredibly strong intellect, guided by the highest levels of creativity and all with a solid unpinning of compassion for her clients. Her guidance is both resonant and practical, offering several new tools, physical and mental, to help bring out one’s best self. Sarah has a true gift that anyone working with her would be grateful to receive. Thanks for all your support and advice over the years!
— Lawrence Levinson, Bureau Veritas Group, CXO

The last 6 months that I’ve worked with Sarah have been the most enlightening, challenging, and exciting 6 months of my life. [Sarah] has an incredible way of engaging you (with a great sense of humor when needed) and creating a lens of more awareness through each session. She connects previous sessions throughout your entire time together, which is so very helpful to see patterns, growth, etc.

[Sarah] has a true passion for her work and is deeply invested in you as her client. During our time together, I’ve grown more than I have in the past few years.

Not only did I get a promotion (due to her guidance/tools/coaching), I also have cultivated a stronger sense of self-confidence, awareness, and gratitude for my life overall. I highly recommend Sarah to anyone who is interested in being coached, you will NOT regret it. Sarah, I cannot thank you enough or put into words what you’ve been able to do for me during our time together! I will be resuming coaching again soon in the future! :)
— Senior Innovation & Continuous Improvement Facilitator, Howard County General Hospital

Working with Sarah, my expectations were surpassed. I thought I was going to get advice and direction. Instead I experienced amazing questions that unlocked learnings inside of me.

Through coaching I gained courage and clarity to move forward towards my purpose.

Getting unstuck and understanding things that are actually in my control. I learned the answers are already inside of me.
— Vice President, Canadian Business Technology Firm

I am very pleased to recommend Sarah Thomas’ executive coaching services.

As a lawyer and executive, I have experienced the positive impact of her willingness to challenge, insightful questions, and ability to quickly understand and analyze complex situations.  Her perspective has allowed me to view situations from outside the “issue-law-analysis” approach we so often revert to in the legal profession.

Her support has resulted in tangible improvements in my leadership skills and confidence over a very short period of time.
— lawyer and non-profit executive

SaLT Catalyst Coaching with Sarah gave me a completely new perspective on my medical leadership role. She challenged me to be curious about myself and my leadership. As a result of our sessions, I’ve allowed myself to think much more broadly about my role.
— Medical Residency Program Director

Sarah is a very compassionate coach and very bright.

She picked up on subtle cues that brought me to a greater awareness about myself.
She asked great questions, allowed for silence when it was needed for me to think about things, and managed each coaching session very well.

I appreciated the copy of her notes that she provided after each session and that helped me work on my “homework” in between sessions. It was a pleasure to work with Sarah! She is a very talented coach!
— Client and peer coach

I am a better employee and leader because of having worked with Sarah. She gave me confidence to say No and Yes to projects. She helped give me the tools and strategies I needed to get organized and stay focused on my work and my growth. Full disclosure, I did not always “enjoy” every conversation with her as she asked me to think outside my norms.

[Sarah] pushed me and challenged me, but always in a safe and respectful manner. She took the time to understand what I needed to grow and for that I am thankful.
— Director of Development, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry

Sarah Thomas has an in-depth grasp of the culture of medicine, and is exceptional at understanding and coaching physicians and other health professionals. Her experience and talents are unique in that she has worked in both health care regulation and advocacy, giving her special knowledge of the culture and personalities of health care professionals. Her knowledge of the struggles that health care professionals deal with is second to none. After completing her course in “Total Governance”, I gained insight in my own strengths and weakness, as well as received coaching to overcome some of my weaknesses and develop and appreciate my strengths. Working with Sarah felt like seeing my self in a truthful, but gentle mirror.

She has a great talent at seeing people for how they are and reflecting that back to them in a constructive way. As a result of her expert teaching and coaching, I have been able to better manage conflict and  be more constructive in my leadership style. The impact on both my professional and personal life has been meaningful and lasting.

[Sarah] is somebody who cares deeply about her clients and her work, and has the ability to communicate in a way the marries logic with feeling. I highly recommend Sarah Thomas as a coach and instructor. Her experience would be appropriate for people of all experience levels from the professional who has never been coached to CEO level.“
— Dr. Pauline Alakija, Clinical Professor, University of Alberta, Surgical & Forensic Pathologist

Sarah made me pull it together! She helped me prioritize everything in my life - where I was and where I wanted to be. Sometimes she had to be brutally honest with me but I am someone who needs that. After the sessions, and using the tools, I feel I am a better mother, manager and partner. I use her suggestions daily.
— Local Edmonton Business Owner

I started working with Sarah when I was exploring the idea of uprooting my life, and making a bold move to a new city. Our sessions provided the space for me to explore my fears, curiosities, and possibilities around making this major life change. Our time together challenged what I believed to be limitations, and altered my perceptions of what was possible. Sarah is professional, patient and intuitive.

If you are willing to venture into that uncomfortable place where growth and greater self-awareness are inevitable, she is the coach you want along for the ride.
— Private Business Owner

I love how Sarah can take what seems to be complex thought and make it simple and concrete. She is very good at breaking things down into the manageable.

Sarah is excellent and I would work with her again
— Clinical Manager, Alberta Based Primary Care Network

Sarah’s unique tools and line of inquiry helped me think about my place in the problem differently, see opportunities I wasn’t seeing to improve my success, and helped me clear the path to the right goals to best get me moving in the direction I chose to take.  While I continued to do the work, Sarah helped me do much better thinking.

I’m in a much clearer and strengthened place as a result, and significantly ahead of where I would have been without her. I dearly appreciate the value of her service and insight, and will take it with me long into the future!
— Communications Specialist

Sarah provided professional and executive coaching for me in my role as co-lead of one of the biggest intellectual property law groups in Western Canada. Sarah quickly and efficiently understood the needs of our group, and assisted us with setting goals.

Most importantly, Sarah followed through with ensuring that we had the tools necessary to successfully achieve our goals.
— Dr. Suzanne Sjovold, LLP

Perhaps what I am most impressed with, and moved by, is Sarah’s diligence to the craft of coaching. She applies a dedicated commitment to being a coach, understanding the role of a coach, and respecting the process of the work.

[Sarah’s] approach is steadfast, but not rigid; she is kind and funny and interesting, but does not lose sight of the path for the session, or indeed the overall endeavour.

What this does for the client is then open a clean, wide, trusting slate in which to also become fully, passionately dedicated to the project of exploring, discovering, rediscovering, and being, oneself.
— Gillian Lemermeyer, RN, PhD(c), Researcher

[Sarah as Coach:]Absolutely, expectations met and exceeded.
Initial goal was to simply learn another perspective and learn to be a part of a coaching relationship. Ended up practicing multiple methods for reflection, analysis and planning, while practicing their application in life.
— Academic Chair, SAIT

I found EQ in Action a very valuable tool and through it, I gained some important insights into how I behave and react in work settings. It has led me down an important path of self- reflection and learning as a result. Thank you, Sarah!
— Dr. Susan Ulan, Assistant Registrar and Hearings Director College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta

Sarah is a caring, passionate, and dynamic professional with expert knowledge of governance and leadership theory and practices. Her facilitation style is engaging and compassionate to the extent that we all learned more about ourselves and each other by the conclusion of the training weekend and now have a roadmap to help us move forward effectively as a high-performance board. I had the privilege of having Sarah as my instructor in Erickson’s mastery coaching program. As her student, I was impressed by the manner in which she merged her deep background in neuroscience with teaching the core fundamentals of solutions-based coaching. Her passion and commitment was evident and she left an indelible mark on me, which I will bring forward to my practice many years to come. I am grateful that I had the opportunity to learn - and continue to learn - from her.

Our organization recently worked with Sarah Thomas to create a Strategic Plan that will guide us for the next three to five years.

During this process Sarah worked with our Council, members and staff as well as numerous other stakeholders. Sarah invested time in the careful collection of data and feedback to inform the plan. She was able to gather information through survey’s, phone and in-person interviews and focus group sessions to address all stakeholder groups. During our working sessions Sarah was well prepared and the presentations and check-in points were easy to comprehend and follow. She promptly delivered the session notes after our meetings and moved us forward through the entire process as per the timeline. Sarah has a lot of knowledge of the regulatory environment and this was a huge benefit in working with her.

We would highly recommend [Sarah] to anyone who is looking for a team player to help reach their organizational goals!
